Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN)

Naltrexone is a medicine which was originally introduced in the 1980’s to reverse the effects of opioid overdose. In this setting, the normal dose was 50 to 100mg. Several years after that, some providers began using this product at significantly lower doses (1.5 to 4.5mg) for multiple conditions such as autoimmune disorders or chronic pain conditions. In fact, a great deal of research is currently being done using this modality and is showing evidence of its value in a wide range of conditions.

Who Can Benefit?

LDN can be beneficial for some individuals with autoimmune disorders or chronic pain conditions such as irritable bowel, arthritis, or nerve pain. Patients seeking an alternative to standard treatments or who require custom dosages often find compounded LDN to be an excellent option.

Side effects of LDN?

The side effects of LDN are usually minimal. Occasionally patients have experienced vivid dreams initially, or brief periods of head or body aches.
